Port of Athens
Piraeus Port has been a centre of life in Athens for over 2000 years. It was vital to the Ancient Greeks as it is to their modern descendants. Millions of tourists make their way in and out of Athens every year from Piraeus to the islands, we took the early morning ferry to Santorini and were rewarded with out of this world views.
Shipping is integral to Greece – as in ancient times too – and this ship making its way back into port really harks to the golden age of Classical Athens.
